It is the battery...When batteries "cook" they produce a very sulfuric odor. If you have an alternator it is over charging the battery! Possibly the odor was lingering. Put a voltmeter on the car while running with alternator hooked up and see what you get. My bet is it is the alternator/voltage reg something is telling it to put out to much voltage, cold be a connection to the batter as well.

I had a really strange smell in my car a few years back. It turned out to be my Holly Blue fuel pump eating itself. Maybe take a quick sniff of your pump!

You could also examine the battery as well. Look for signs of it swelling, if it has then it has been overcharged.

White castle burgers and cheap beer the night before ? That's what I was thinking. What 'should' the voltmeter read? I have a Toyota Denso alternator and it is always at 14 volts, someone told me it shouldn't be that high at all times but I haven't had any problems and it's the best charging system I've ever owned, battery never struggles or runs low like every setup I've had in the past.
