Well, Saturday the day finally came to put the Daytona on the ground and take it for a spin around the block. If weather is better this week, I'll take her out and about. But, it gave me a good opportunity to take pictures next to its racing cousin, my '70 T/A..

Bill et al,
I reference the replies and FSM and believe I have both the ft/rear carb's in sequence with the linkage and the tranny kickdown adjusted properly. I did notice however that the vertical rod for the kickdown wasn't long enough and I had to fabricate an extension in order for the ball/socket connection to fit with the tranny pressure arm fully forward down on the transmission.

Thanks Scott. I believe I have the carbs dialed in. She's running about 850-900 rpm with 13" of vacuum and about 750 in gear without any loading up or stain to stay running ( 2400-2800 stall convertor ). The proof will be when I take her out and about. I think I'm also zeroing in on the choke adjustment. It doesn't stick anymore, so now it is just a function of the positioning of the black dashpot and the setting on the fast-idle cam..

What kind of wheels are those? They kinda look like LRE chrome slots re-done in black. They look nice on the car.

Earning every penny of that moderator paycheck.

The wheels are from Bart Wheels. They made the Grand National wheels back in the day and are still in business. These are from the later '71 and on seasons. They do look great, but not correct for 1970 and earlier. The only drawback is the 15x8's can only be made with a 4" backspacing, hence the sidewall is REAL close to the wheel well opening and I have to be careful. Otherwise, I have to jack up the torsion bars for clearance, then I loose the look I'm going for,,

Finally Part2, cruise to the local Saturday Night cruise-in !!!!!

I was able to get her out and drive to a show ( local Nifty50ees Saturday Night gathering place in Northwest Houston area ). Got there a little early to give myself time in the event something would happen. Drove her all the way there, regular stop-n-go traffic, lights, etc. She didn't get above 190-ish it appears. RIght now I have no thermostat in it. Did that initially to promote the leak sealant solution to work through the system. I will change out to a high flow 160 thermostat from JEGS soon. I still have some tweeking to do of course, mostly on the distributor and its timing characteristics. Other than that, she did great. I was pleased...... Crowd loved the car and the open headers... Love the QTP electric dumps...

As it turned out, it was really my torque converter ring gear. The first time it happened, the broken teeth were at the top of the converter and hence I didn't see the broken teeth. The second time I addressed it, thinking that I had a bad starter, it happened again. This time, the borken teeth were visible because they were at the bottom of the converter...... So, I went ahead and just got a completely new converter since I didn't trust the one I had in there...
