I'm cleaning out a valve body for my womans 65 Fury. I recently swapped out the original cable shift tranny for a newer style. I got the tranny out of another car and the shift points are too aggressive. I'm thinking aggressive shift kit. So I pulled a stock valve body out of a spare tranny and I'm cleaning it out. There is one valve that seems locked in. It will not budge. Should it move and be able to be removed?

Also, what Speedo gear works for 3.23s?

I would think any "spool" valve inside has to move to be able to block/unblock passages. Put a piece of flat stock across a rear tire and tape measure the dia from the bottom of it to ground then consult the archives (here). "rollout" would be more accurate but the above got me dead on till Kunkel got me on to "rollout". All depends on how close you are (with your tire dia) to an even number for the number of teeth you need ie 26 teeth as opposed to a theoretical 26.4 teeth

Is there any possibility that the throttle pressure adjustment (kickdown) is adjusted too far back, this would cause late/hard shifts ...just a thought.

On the speedo gear tire size is needed.

It takes gasoline to interest me.

What a mess. I pulled the pan Friday night and it was full of the second gear band. When I pulled the valve body the band adjuster fell out. It was going from 1st to third. I grabbed a tranny from a friend's house and found out it's a 66 when we tried to stab the converter. I rebuilt it Sunday and now it works great. My lady is happy again haha.

I'll look at the tire size later.
