On another Chicago salt subject, the wife's 99 RAM WAGON 2500 frame has rusted so badly I am going to pull the great running 5.2 Magnum and overdrive trans, hoping to install in the 79 pick up... Is is currently a 360 4 bl.. I am thinking the only major problem is the tone ring on the rear end..which the 79 does not have.. Is that needed for the computer or only the ABS? Anyone done this swap?

At one point I had a Magnum 360 in my '85 truck. I had a 904 behind it, with a carb intake and electronic ignition distributor. Other than that it was as is from a truck. You have to have the truck P/S bracket, the van one wont work--it'll hit the frame. the only other thing I noticed using the 904, was there is a boss that needs to be shaved down on the block, the starter will hit it and will not sit in there straight.
Use a set of regular pre magnum 360 mounts and magnum radiator hoses for a 1993 truck and it all just falls in place.
Outcast Dodge guy.
