What starters are you using on BIG CI engines?? Looking for a starter for 622 wedge. It has 11.5-1 compression. I have Mopar mini starter but don't think it has enough oomph. Looking at Powermaster 9523. Also see MSD has starters now too.
PSO headed 632 from MM. Cracked cylinder, loose valve seats, low oil pressure, low cylinder pressure. ..... Now its a door stop....

Is that #9523 the one that is 'clockable/indexable' for clearance issues?? If it is,,,,, ....GOOD LUCK with it!! I had one,,,,3-4 times off & on and back to them for repairs/upgrades/etc. I finally threw it in the junk and used a Mopar mini. The Powerbastard lasted about 15 starts the first time before it broke. The next couple of times less than 15 and then ate up my ring gear on my convertor. Mopar mini has been on for over 4 years with NO problems. 493" 13.5:1

No 9523 isnt the clockable one. That one looks like a PITA!! Maybe the Mopar mini starter is the way to go.....

I use a mopar mini starter on my 605, it's only 10.4-1. No problems what so ever. Dave
Same here on my 572" 11:1 motor. Used the same starter on my 14.5:1 446" motor too. Never had any issues after many years on the same starter.

That Mopar starter should be fine... check your wiring for good grounds .. what size wire did you run to the starter

Ok thanks Chip. Ill run the Mopar mini.
Mr. P....I'll have to check.. Its either a 1 or 0 gauge cable to the starter. Ive ran the mini starter on my old 496 for years without problems. Guess it's tougher than I thought. Thanks guys, ya just saved me $250!!!

Make sure you have a good ground going to the block.. large enough to carry the starter load
