My ? is this. I have a 69 RR with disc brakes, the lower ball joint arm bolts to the spindel. I have talked to two sulppliers of oe parts and the both say that the lower ball joint arm uses thru bolts with a castle nut and carter pin. But I have seen 3 cars in the past 2 days that are like my car. Which the ball joint arm uses only a bolt and the spindel is threaded. Both suppliers told me that the setup I have is not factory? Is that correct? thanks

On 1966-69 Bendix disc brake systems, for the B body cars, the spindles are Threaded, for the lower ball joint attachment. No nuts.

Drum brake spindles would use a bolt and nut.

1970 up, disc brakes would use a bolt, and nut.

Does it use the same lower ball joint as the 70. Or is it 66-69 only?

You know that old Chinese guy that said, "A picture is worth a thousand words"

Well then, here's a picture of of three left side 66-69 Bendix disc brake spindles, for the B Body line of cars, that i have in my collection, stash, hoard, accumulation, rat hole, of parts.

I still rebuild brakes, suspension, parts in my old age for extra money, from time to time.

Having some time to kill, before i have to leave for another hospital appointment, for some of my medical issues these days, i had the time to do the picture thing for you.

IIRC correctly all the lower ball joints interchange between 62 and 72 spindles on a B body.
This style I would think would be easier to change ball joints in since you do not have to remove the hub or drum assembly to get to the bolts like those with a bolt and nut combo.

Thanks for all the info. going to froward this to the Experts that told me no way was the bolt on style correct
for my disc brake car.
They said they have look at 100"s of cars and have not seen a direct bolt on. Wonder what they have been looking at? Well maybe I didn't explain is correctly? I was also told that a 69 Hemi has two choke tubes on it ? Mine as onle one going to the exhaust manifold next to the heat riser. Does anyone have a pic of the choke tubes? Speaking of heat riser. Had to sit down after getting a $ on a rebuild kit. All Ireally need it the spring, does anyone sell just the spring?

What was your initial problem that you were asking around about ball joint bolts?
You putting a pair of Bendix brakes back together, and don't have the bolts?
5/8 x 18 x 1 3/4 inch length.

If you only thought to ask, when i took the picture of those three spindles, i could have told you.
But i put them away, and i can't dig them out again.

I guess that's why you were looking at other disc brake B Body's then.
To find markings on bolt heads.
Oh well, to each his own.
