i took the trans apart thinking all the side cover bolts were the same? found out different, does anyone know where the longer shouldered bolt goes and the two bolts that are threaded and no shoulders? thanks for the help.

The side cover is thicker where the longer shoulder bolts go. The two threaded bolts go in the holes that the shoulder bolts won't fit into. Pretty logical !!!!!

It's pretty easy to figure out , just look ...

There is only one spot on the trans case that has a recessed hole for the longer shoulder bolt ... this bolt locates the cover ... middle in the rear , the 2 long bolts as LAR said , lower right ...

John RR has the right answer.
Here is a picture of the rear middle threaded hole on the case. You see that it has a counterbore where the top few threads would normally be. The longer shoulder goes through the cover and into this hole to line up the cover.

Go here for a service manual:

I would recommend that you don't try to rebuild the trans without an appropriate service manual. The procedures are slightly different for standard, Hemi box, and OD4 Transmissions.

Ditto last post. If you can't figure out where a bolt goes then take to somebody to get redone.
