That 60' time does seem lazy...Are you sure the converter is flashing to 5500 off the line?

It's the 4.10's that's killing your 60 foot. You need more gear. /like a 4.56

It could be just a matter of your weight.

I'm running roughly the same MPH with less cubes (although on Alky) but my car is lighter then yours.

I also have 4:56's and 31" tires.

Take video of your passes... mainly the starting
line at a 1/4ing angle from the rear so you can see
the rear of the car and the front but mainly looking
at the rear tire and the body but yet see the front
tire... without any info its strictly a guess... do
you play on good tracks or just iffy tracks(what do
the other racers say about their 60')

But when you stab it on green, is the converter actually flashing to 5500?

Im no expert, but I am also thinking that with those tall tires you might want a little more gear than 4.10...not sure how much more though

What RPM do you shift and what is the trap RPM..
have you measure the slippage rate on the conv... this
is to verify that the tack and the the numbers are right

If it is hooking I believe the issue is lack of starting line ratio. My car has the same issue, only with a quicker car. I run a 4.10 as well. The cars I race in N/SS that run 9.50/9.75 tend to 60 ft in the 1.25-1.30 range. My car is in the mid 1.30s on most days yet runs .30-.60 quicker ET. They all run 4.30-4.56

Gear can definitely have an effect. I have seen firsthand a 112-114 Lsa cam on a motor without a lot of compression knock a good bit of 60 foot out of a car, compared to a narrower cam.
Might not be the case on the OP'car..

I would try foot braking it to about 2500 RPM to hit the converter harder...might be all it needs.

I had a similar problem to you, i changed from M/T to hoosiers and had to raise the tyre pressure by 3-4 psi to make it 60ft. I also went from single adj 9 way ranchos, my best 60ft with them was 1.43, to afco doubles, my best now is 1.39 but i go regular 1.40's.

Going up gear will lessen the converter stahl not much improvement in 60 to be
found there.
I thing couple things are at play here.
Front end to tight , chassis set wrong in the back
Converter not what it should be or could be , carb issue not big enough or tuned issues
But a 500 cu motor in a 3200# car had best be a 9.70 car so something amiss here

There is a lot of info missing here. Head type, and flow? trans type? Cam duration and installed at? The slow 60 ft could be anything from tie spin to pump shooters, wrong cam, and on and on.

Lots of gremlins can affect staring line reaction times and 60 ft. times Which brand is the converter and was it made for your car or used when you bought it? What size squirters and cams on the carb? How much front end travel before the front tires come off the ground? some things come easy, with the right parts, and others take a lot of work to get the results you want, especially in race cars Just like women, some parts need more massaging befor they perform well Some need replacing to get the results you desire AKA, let us know the answers to the above ?
