I am looking at a 440 short block that has supposedly been stroked with a 4.15 crank. The pistons are marked 2371P .Std From what I can find on the internet they say they are 400 pistons?? Just trying to determine what they are for sure and if you can put 400 pistons in a 440 block?

Yes. .020 440 4.320/is STD. 400 4.340 bore.
Don`t know about the exact deck height, but I have seen it done before.

Do the math and be SURE its what you want before spending your money

Thank you for the info. The crank has an 8 bolt flange and I see some minor grinding that has taken place on the inside of the block, looks like they ground flashing off more than clearance marks. I'm new to stroker engines so what should I look for as far as clearance marks go for the crank or as long as it turns freely and does not hit is that all that's needed?

I don't think You need much clearancing unless it has aluminum rods Then you would see it at the bottom of the cylinders..

With a 4.15 stroke I dont think you have to notch
the bottom of the bores if you use a chevy rod... so
you might not see anything for clearance grinding

Take a set of dial calipers, or a machinest ruler, and measure the stroke of one of the pistons at bottom dead center Rock the crankshaft so you can see the pistons stop at BDC and measure away Let us know what you find, that sounds like a very cheap 4.15 stroker kit If it has the Mopar rod sizes you can have it offset ground to BB Chevy rod journal sizes(2.200) and lengthen the stroke later to 4.25
