what you read... is it posible to hook up an alt idiot light ( led ) on an original Mopar charging system ?

it wouldn't be simple.
you would have 2 maybe 3 choices.
a sensing circuit to tell you when voltage dropped below say 13 volts to turn the light on.

circuit with a diode to a normally open relay, where when charging power dropped off, it would close it and light the light.

relay with a specific voltage lower limit where it would unlatch and close the circuit for the light.

the reason is a friend of mine built a custom cluster for his 74 Dart and we got this led panel:

and want to get working every indicator

Forgott to say, electronic regulator.

Wow! John! I thought it was to be way easier than that LOL

but I'm noticing it dims out with voltage variation... aren't Delco alts simply an ON/OFF light if works or not ?

There is an easier way, you can purchase a low voltage warning system from an aircraft supply.

eeehm, not... hundred bucks for just make to work an idiot light is insane LOL

Delco alternator, I think will stay on car LOL... if not... diodes and resistor combo for it

Someone who knows what they are doing could make one at radio shack fairly cheaply. That thing is just pricey because it is an airplane part.
I have an empty hole in my dash because I wanted to do this as well so hopefully we can get more suggestions.

You could do it with a zeener diode and a relay. The older GM and Fords used to do it by putting battery volts on both sides of the idiot lite once it started charging. Some had a seperate stator circuit from the alt that was used to work the lite relay in the voltage regulator and for many years GM used a diode trio in their internal reg alts. But you could put the lite on a relay and then use a zeener diode that would pass curent at about 13.0 volts to work the relay and turn the lite out. Ron

that was what I was thinking after check several AC Delco diagrams... something like that.

just would have to figure it out how to mount that on a Chrysler alt.

it seems not to be excesivelly diff than the video posted by John, which actually is an easy job, but this piece could be an easy "plug and play" piece.

however wondering about the resistors used by the guy on that video... the led on panel already got the resistor to get it work on car voltage, so dunno if the resistors used on video is just for that purpouse or whatever else

a voltimeter is installed on cluster, no need for that

still wondering how to wire it, because it seems linked to regulator + lead, and with key on, but alt not spinning, could short out the system.

I guess the original Delco regulator jumps in and out the ground accordingly

So this is truly an idiot light, for someone who can't look at existing gauge.
Put a reminder alert on his IPhone, "look at voltmeter", set for once a week.

LOL, quite so.

But actually is mainly because I want to make work all leds on panel. My friend is installing double electric fans too and mech gauge, so the sender wire will be used to light up when the second fan turns on at a higher temp

I like the look...I already made a gauge panel myself for this Roadrunner...Nothing crazy, just Turn signal and High Beam. Under the dash pad where the driver can see them only....In the ash tray, two more LED push buttons (Aicraft quality) for Electric Fan and Rear Defroster.

What does "B" and "G" mean on this panel you have? The "x" is fan? The exclamation point is "check engine" maybe?

Yes... that's the way I'll be using

G-Generator/alternator
B-Brakes
X-Fan, which since electric fans will be used with dual fan setup with two temp senders, I'll make it work when second fan turns on.
!-Oil

here is how it looks

oil and temp are mechanical. Got a voltage gauge.
