Hey guys, I have a set of 906 heads and 2.14/1.81 valves. They are at the machine shop but I am going back and forth with the shop owner about the valve job. I want a steep 75 degree throat cut on the intake but he is scared to cut them because of the bulge in the bowl for rocker oiling. He is afraid a 75 degree cut down from the valve seat will break through. Anything special to watch for or advice on what I should tell the machinist. He is a chevy guy and I'm getting aggravated.

A 75 degree bottom cut is completely normal with 2.14 intake valves in a 906/915, right? I'm not just momentarily losing my mind?

Thanks roadhazard. Those ports look great! That's where I'm hoping to be soon if I can ever get the machine work done. What you have removed in porting is well beyond the 75 degree cut I want done.

No problem as I am glad to help. I did forget to say they are 2.14 and 1.81 valves I put in them. Ron

If he don't believe you just have him look at the picture, Lol
Thanks for the compliments guys! It was the first set of heads I've ported and seem to perform as well as they look

Thanks for the advice guys. I would have taken them to a better shop, but I don't know anyone locally who deals a lot with mopars I am familiar with making a nice rounded off radius from the bottom cut bellow the valve seat to the floor. I've done that on few sets I ported in the past but I've never lowered the floor there very much. How far into the short turn do you extend the radius to lower floor? I have always been leery of breaking through so I don't go back very far. Do you guys suggest more of a round radius, consistent in shape from floor to valve job, or a radius that tapers off slower and longer as it approaches the floor? I may need to draw a picture to make sense of what I'm saying... Thanks guys!
