Hey gang....
I know I may be opening up a can of worms here...
I am trying to detail the taillamp panel on my Daytona with a more appropriate OEM-correct look. The finish on the Daytona now is too glossy and smooth. I know it is supposed to have the Organisol paint to it. The paint job on the Daytona's nice, but with that said, is pretty old ( 1994 ). I don't have a spray gun or appropriate size air compressor. I bought a can of Organisol paint from Totally Auto and it is crap.. Now, the paint might be ok, but the spraying stinks.... Sprays for about 3 seconds and then stops. I'm sure it is a defect in the can that Totally Auto contracts out? Regardless, I'm leary of purchasing another can at $25.00. Is there any name brand paints out there that provides a satin/rough feel like Organisol, like BBQ paint or something?

Black sprayable primer from Advance is a real close match color wise and not too bad on the texture side. What I don't know is how it will hold up to sunlight, I used on the behind the bumper area on my AAR, if was tough to tell where the organosol stopped and the primer started, been on for 6 months on so with out fade.
I tried to post a picture but it was too big, PM and I will send them to you.

Yes they have great paint considering it's in a spray can but there are always nozzle problems.
They used to and still may give you extra nozzles with every can. The only real fix I ever had was using a Undercoat nozzle with their thick textured stuff.
Also you have to shake their can's (is that even legal?) longer than a normal spray can.
Beware much testing is needed because it will spray out like never before!!!!

I value your judgement and experience. I shook the can for many many minutes. As you know from my posting here too, I've been doing this sort of thing for a long time, granted not at the professional level.
I changed out the nozzle with the new one that was provided with the can. Cleaned it out multiple times..... The nozzles are clean, it has to be the valve within the can the nozzles press into.... There are times when, if I hold it JUST right, the nozzle sprays continuously. But, with the panel, I need to be able to make a continuous spray pattern from one side to the next, then back and be consistent about it. Per the cans instruction, I need, for best results, apply two coats. I'm not here to bad-mouth Totally Auto, I just feel like I'm wasting my time. I once had a can from them years ago and it did the same thing. I don't know if there's a shelf life to these. I bough the can, oh,,,,,, about 9 months ago?
I'll call them tomorrow and see what they say..... I basically just threw $25 out the window...

it to save some bucks. IMO, its better than having to redo it because clogged up spray nozzles left it clumpy & splotchy on your Daytona.

Heat up some water(I usually use water from my sink and thats hot enough)dump it into a coffee can and then put the paint can in and every few minutes I shake it up real good and do this three or four times before spraying any texture spray cans.
Thats what I've done with great success with the exception of burning my hand once. lol

One half of a can did this entire rear spoiler top and bottom. Legs also painted with it separately. Spray tip is AWESOME!! Never clogged once and I used up the rest of the can right to the very last drop with zero issues. Sprayed from around 24 inches away. No streaks or runs...lays down nice like it was shot from my gun and not a rattle can. It even filled a few scratches on my spoiler and made them hard to see where they were. I sprayed mine at work and put it in a bake oven at 90 degrees for one hour. Not the true factory Organisol, but definately nice for a driver type show car. Looks as if it will touch up very easily also.
