I just replaced the gas sending unit with a brand new one. When the sending unit is placed at full it shows 3/4 on the gauge, when you place the sending unit at 1/2 the gauge shows a little less then 1/4. When you place the sending unit at 1/4 the gauge shows empty. I have a good ground.

Thank you

do you mean when you lift the arm ALL the way up, the gauge only goes to the 3/4 position?

That's the problem with the new ones they make... plenty of threads about them and a thread about having good ones made also. I stick with originals whenever possible, been there with the new cheaper ones and not worth the hassle.

yes that is what I am saying regarding the 3/4 tank showing on my gauge. I replaced the tank with a cell and install a new aftermarket 73-10 sending unit. also had the same problem when I had the original sending unit. I replaced the original sending unit with a aftermarket and had the same readings. I have had three different sending units and all 3 read the same.

then your gauge is off, bad. check the gauge's ground.

What would be good to do is check all those sending units with a known good gauge.
