1969 road runner. What best offset on the rear wheels to fit the biggest tire without clearance issues and no rolling or cutting at all. I am thinking a 295 65. 15 , Should I use a 4.25. 4.5. Or 5 inch backspace? Pics appreciated.. also what size radial tire looks good on the front...I assume a 6 x15inch wheel would be a good choice.

Was hoping to get some insight....I have read that 5.5 back spacing will work ,however im not sure if the springs were in stock location and not alterex. Seems most use a 4.5 be on a 8 inch rim.

I'd assume it would depend on what rear end set up you have, brakes, and how high or low you want the rear.

8 3/4 stock uncut housing...stock suspension widest tallest tire I can fit without cutting car up to fit. No rubbing issues...so must have a lil clearance. Body and rear end is stock.whit backspace can I safely get away with...Can i use 4.25 or how much backspace can I get away with without having rub issues. I was hoping someone on here had done this or had thoughts..

15x8 with 4.5" backspace is what my buddy used on his '68 Satellite convertible while running 295/65/15 drag radials. Another friend used the same sizes on his '70 Coronet...both have springs in stock location, etc.

Stock rear & springs and uncut quarters:
15x8 with 4.5 BS no problem with 295/50R15s.
15x10 with 5.5 BS is tighter, but clears according to the black '69 GTX a member here has (can't recall the name), and IIRC he's running the tire you're talking about.

I would like to try a 5 or 5.5 backspace, but I better play it safe and get 4.5 backspace on the rear with an 8 inch wheel. I can prob do a 6 or 7 inch on the front not sure what tire size for the front that i will get yet, I don't want the diameter to look too small.

Most of my buddies run 235/60/15's on the front of their B & E bodies with 7" wheels.

225 or 235 70s on the front of my B bodies, I usually try to match the hiegth of the rear tires. I plan to run a 235 70s on the front of my AAR with 275/60s in the rear, but I like muscle cars to sit high and real close to level.
