Where on the drive side apron is the correct location for an Export Tag on a 70 'cuda? After installing fender tag, there are two small holes over the shock tower that are to close together for the export tag.

Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Regarding export cars...there were three types (to the best of my knowledge). Those shipped to Canada, coded Y07 on the fender tag, those ordered from outside North America and delivered to the specified country, which REQUIRED a "Manufactured For Export" tag, and those ordered from outside North America but scheduled to be delivered within the USA, which were coded Y09 on the fender tag. This last type did not require a "Manufactured For Export" tag.
If anyone has additional information on Export cars, it would be greatly appreciated.

I had in the past (1991 to 1997) a 1970 (in fact the only one delivered new in France) Challenger convertible 383 HP auto, I had the fender tag with Y09 option on it, not found the buildsheet, and like Antonello, the same export plate near the FT, and the same sticker "manufactured for export", at the same place also...

My car was ordered outside North America and delivered in the United States. I got the car as a basket case but with the original fender tag, door VIN decal and export tag with it. The export tag is weathered and old. The car had lived a tough life up to that point and is doubtful anyone would have gone out of their way to add it.

Could you post a picture of your export tag? Would like to see if it has any differences to the ones that are out there.

For Y09 cars, the orders originated from overseas, these cars for 1970 had the aluminum export tags - whether they were shipped outside the US or not.

When you see Y09 Y11 Y14 together like on the broadcast sheet above, the car was likely ordered from overseas by a US serviceman. He would have picked it up at a dealership of his choice on his return home. I see a fair amount of these cars with N95, likely due to the men returning home through on of the bases in CA.

The Y11 means 'Domestic Publications', meaning that while the order did originate from overseas, the shipping invoice, dealership invoice & window sticker would have shown a US (domestic)address.

Canada shares a border with us, so these cars were not considered 'export' orders, thus the different sales code of Y07. It is the same for cars built at The Windsor, Ontario plant, the cars built there for the US were not 'exports'.

Thanks for all the info so far. I will post a pic of the fender apron and the export tag later. I had to do some pretty extensive repair to the front clip of the cuda I am working on however I do know that driver side frame rail and apron are original to the car. I am not seeing any holes that would accept the original export tag - the spacing is wider than a fender tag. I did not dis-assemble the car so I am not sure where it was mounted. I did not plug or mud over any holes on the apron.

I obtained a repro export tag from ECS and it is the same size and shape as the old beater that was on the car. mount point are spaced the same as well.

last. Original and reproduction Export Tag. Spread on tag does not align with any holes regardless of variation. No holes to left of fender tag and no signs of mudded over or plugged holes.

Nice car... very nice.

Performance Car Graphics sells the Export plates. $30.

Was your car ordered overseas and deliverd to the US or is it a true export car (delivered outside the US)?

Was your apron drilled at the factory for the location you show?
