Generally, narrower rims increase the section width and wider rims narrow the section width. If you are running, for example, a 7" rim with those 275's, a 10" rim may give you your clearance to no longer rub. Of course, it may not and unless you can test fit before you buy you may spend money you needn't have. They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

A narrow rim will result in a narrower section width.
