Debatable if this topic goes here or Q&A, but since most of the handling/pro-touring folks lurk here...

Situation: I have a Viper V10 in a b-body with the stock 4-spd pedal setup. The T-56 comes with a hydraulic throwout bearing. Unfortunately, I can not use the viper-truck clutch master cylinder/linkages (just wont fit).

What I am looking for, are examples that y'all have used to install either piece part (or kit preferrably) a hydraulic master cylinder.

I have found kits from American Power-train...and Kiesler... looking if anybody used these. Unfortunately these "kits" are $$$.

I've also seen people use wilwood 7/8" master cylinders/etc. and I assume they are engineering out the various linkages to the pedals.

So folks - what have you seen/done and do you have pictures and part #'s? What's worked well and what hasn't?

Not a Mopar...but I made my own setup when I put the LS1/T56 in my Holden. I used a 3/4" master cylinder on mine (It was an OE master off some other GM) and found a long push rod for the master and cut the end off (it was an OE application as well from some other model) and a few inches longer than needed) and just threaded the end and screwed a rod end on that attached to the clutch pedal.
I just measured up the original pedal ratio from the Camaro donor (you could do the same with a Viper pedal) to get the right amount of throw/feel to it.

Been on for a while now and drives great.

I wouldn't hesitate to make my own setup again..Mopar or other wise. A clutch master is not all that pricey to start with.

I did make up a hose was all that had the funky quick connect on the throwout bearing end (does the Viper one use that too?) and just a normal AN fitting on the other end to get the length I wanted)

A pic in my case probably won't help you much

But for the heck of it..

I used an F body reservoir, and made my own mounting bracket for it (a T shape) and you can see the clutch master just to the right of it and slightly to the left/below the wiper motor...

Wilwood 7/8" bore seems to work lovely with Viper slave.

Ended up needing a braided brake line for packaging reasons.

Awesome replies - just perfect. I can get the wilwood 7/8" master with ~1.1"-1.4" throw for like $75...

Oz - yeah i believe the viper has that funky quick disconnect deal... (Is your picture backwards? wrong side )

I'll see if i can snap a picture of the line connection - I anticipate that will be the biggest hassle. I like the AN fitting idea on one end.

Time to order parts and post an update in a month or so.

Awesome! That makes the problem easier. Gotta love amazon - picked up the wilwood master and that fitting above for $66/$18 respectively. Now i need the line (I will wait to measure that) and to mock up the bracket/etc. I like the hiem joint above - care to share any specifics on thread/etc?

I went to my local circle track supply store and picked up the heim and the line. IIRC the heim is just a 1/4x3/8" female and line is a 36" -3 with a 90 on one end and a straight on the other, think it cost me $18.

I got mine from Speedway Motors..they had a really nice selection. (Used them for all the ends I got to use on my adjustable sway bar end links as well)

And think mine was a 5/16 or 3/8? Would have to get under the dash and measure it, but the push rod on mine might be a different diameter than that wilwood one anyways..

I run ran a die over the rod and went with that size. (luckily it happened to be a handy outside diameter for the die as it was as well)

Thanks guys - you've made this *easy* and saved me over $200 at least. I'll post pics when done.

I have a mcleod billet hydraulic throwout bearing. You may be able to use one to simplify the setup.

looks like this

Yes, dont quote me on the size of the heim, the rod that comes with the Wilwood will determine that. It may be a 5/16x1/2".

Interesting. You have your master mounted inside the firewall.

I'm running a viper T56 in my Dakota. Using a stock Dakota master cylinder, stock SRT-10 truck hyd. TO bearing, and plumbing is handled with braided steel line and the russel fittings linked above.

Fits and works like the factory designed it that way

Are you guys removing the return spring on the clutch pedal or using something different?
