Trying to find a replacement set of 902 big block heads but all I have come across so far seem to be cracked. Is this common for the Mopar heads with the induction hardened seats, including 452's? If I were to find a good set of 902's for a rebuild would they be prone to cracking through normal use?

I've used lots of BB heads and have never seen one cracked. I have never used 902. All I use are 906 and 452.

I've never ran into a cracked (non ported) 906. Cant say the same for 452's. No info on 902's & I think I have a set of em I will never use, PM if interested.

I've seen a fair amount of 906 heads cracked externally under the center exhaust ports, probally freeze cracks though OP, where are you finding the cracks in those heads your testing?

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Cracks were found in the exhaust ports. Most recent head showed a half inch crack in the exhaust seat. The 906 head didn't have induction hardened seats so thats probably why they don't crack. Just trying to figure out if the newer head castings (i.e 902 and 452) are prone to cracking.

The 902 heads are really prone to cracking in the exhaust seats, most of the ones I've encountered had at least one exhaust seat cracked. I personally have seen only one exhaust seat cracked in a 452 and I've handled many of them.

Always look for external cracks around the center exhaust ports like Cabs says.
