I have been doing some searching, but just curious what the opinions are here. I have a '85 D150 with a healthy big block and 4-speed in it (actually 833 OD). I need something that will hold the torque well, but will be street friendly---I know, its a big balance act. I just fried the unknown clutch combo in the truck the first time with this vehicle at the track. I got one really crappy run and then fried the clutch in the burnout box on the second run.

I had good luck in the past on another vehicle with the Centerforce D/F setup, but boy is it rough when you want to go flat out and power shift the thing. Thinking about just the CenterForce DF pressure plate and maybe a disk with less holding power to try and comprimise--but I think that is what the CF stage II clutch is. Or just suck it up and get some big static pressure B&B pressure plate and a organic disk---like an old school set up.

A $600+ setup is really out of the question at this point, so I need to be as budget friendly as possible.

What are your thoughts

Dump the Center Force and go with McLeod. I have had nothing but problems with CF.

This is what I am running, Part Number 360951 s the pressure plate I use then you can choose from Kevlar discs or a variety of materials

Another vote for McLeod.
I've put in so many clutches in my mopars I can't count them.
The McLeod I put in my bee earlier this year is hands down the best clutch and PP I've ever spent money on.

Ok, McLeod, but which one did you use? The first poster told me which PP he used which helps me.

If you had problems shifting with the CF it wasnt the clutch.Mine has been in my built 440 4 speed for years. At 6700 I fly thru the gears. It still hooks better than the Mc Cleod 3200 pound B&B that I had in it.Rocky

I would assume you are running the 10.5" flywheel?

You mentioned 6 bills was a little much so I didn't post the part numbers.
I was giving thumbs up that McLeod (in my opinion) is a quality product, my last four or five kits were Rams and I don't see ever buying another one again.
My setup was about 550$ but was worth every penny compared to the Ram stuff and is the 'long' finger type.
