The curved pickup is for a standard pan like the 402 with an internal baffle, but not that old 187 pan. The other pickup is for a pan with no baffles. 383/440 makes no difference... Actually, if you go to the 440source site, they have a pretty good history there in their pickup and pan section.

B/RB share the same oil pickups/pans. You need to get a pickup to match your pan, don't worry about low deck to tall deck BB.

just not sure why both websites show a different one for a 440??
You have to remember too that most of these places like Jegs and Summit use generic photos rather than display the actual product. Or they may show a straight tube for a 440 because it was fairly common in the larger C-Body cars, which I believed used the 187, but I'd have to check on that.

That would make sense to me that they might be listing the correct pickup for a 440 with an unbaffled pan rather than the baffled 402. I was pretty sure my buddy's 6pak 440 had the curved tube with the 402 pan and that's why I was getting confused. Thanks to everyone for helping me clear it up.

The curved pickup is for the 402 pan to clear the baffles , the straight pickup fits the 187 pan and ALSO fits the 6qt FACTORY Hemi pan ,and it clears the baffles .
FYI the pickup for the 402 pan is still available NEW from MP .
