Im putting together a 440 with rpm heads and a torker manifold. Which felpro intake gasket is better for my application, the common bath tub gasket or the embossed steel laminate version.

embossed steel laminate for a big block mopar ???

If you don't use a bathtub type gasket you will need a valley cover.

Use Felpro 1215. It has the steel bath tub and 4 thin paper gaskets that go on either side of the steel.

I asked the question because the description for the 1215 said stock to mild applications and the steel laminate for more serious engines.

What brand and part number are you refferring to as a "steel laminate gasket" ?The two common choices are either the stock type valley cover pan, with and without the heat riser passages, AKA fel Pro 1215 and the stock part one with the hole and the other option is a valley plate the has to be sealed the the cylinder heads like Indy and 440 source sells

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I got that part number mixed up. The FEMS96000 says its for stock to mild engines and the 1215 is the embossed steel laminate version which has the 4 paper gaskets Brian mentioned. They are both a bath tub design which look identical which is why I asked about the two different gaskets. I will buy the 1215. Out of curiosity, does anyone make a valley plate which works with e-heads.

I believe the ones that work with Indy heads will work with the Edelbrocks. When I had my block decked, I failed to have them machine the end rails, so the plate won't work on mine.

Also, when you use the Felpro 1215, glue the gaskets to the steel part and let it dry before installing. If not, the gaskets will move around some when you install the intake.

what you are reading as a steel laminate version is a screwed up description as you have found out. The 1215 is the bath tub with the blocked heat riser , since the RPM heads don't have a heat riser that really does not matter. the gasket is sold wit ha set of the 4 .030 thick fiber gaskets , use them or don't , it's your decision.

I think Andy F makes a valley cover that works with the rpms , Check mancini , they sell his parts.
