Here's an older pic showing the dipping line on the control arm sprayed with Eastwood's heavy duty anti-rust...
Here's a pic of a unrestored arm showing the original dip line after cleaning it up a bit.

What's a good finish for parts that were originally left bare, like the UCAs, LCA strut rods, drag link, etc?

Hey, I see this is your first post !! Welcome to the board.. ... If you're going the painted route a "stainless steel" color is a good base coat....Seymour makes a stainless color with real stainless metal in it...Another choice is VHT all-weather epoxy...That's the one I prefer...It's a little darker than the Seymour paint....When you spray the stainless paint go for the coverage on the first coat then mist-coat the part for the rougher texture and drier look.....Now, here's the real trick on getting the painted components to look different from each other....Use the stainless as the base then mist-coat a darker color over it...Then use a scotch-brite pad to hit the highlights of the part...Check out this spindle assy for a 73 road runner...It was done using the VHT stainless epoxy then mist-coated with Eastwood's Black phosphate...... Click on the attachment for the bigger view...

Thanks, I wandered in here while searching for suspension pictures. I'm working on a '70 Cuda that I bought 15 years ago. The body has been hanging on a rotisserie for a while now laid up in primer. The neighborhood body shop is going to do the paint and I'm fiddling with the suspension right now. I was curious what other people were using for suspension finishes. Here is a photo of some parts I did today. I degreased them in bucket of Castrol Super Clean and then derusted them in a bucket of muriatic acid. I rinsed with baking soda and water, blew them off with the compressor and shot them with Eastwood Diamond Clear. They turned out pretty well. The acid does a pretty good job without fracturing and frosting the surface like blasting does. They aren't perfect, with variations in color here and there, but they are clean and protected with a little character...
