Hey gang.
Can I get some pictures posted of the inside of E-body doors with either the plastic shield installed or whatever form of sound deadening you may have done? Of course, this is without the door panel installed. I want to wrap up these doors pretty soon on my friend's '71 Challenger......

Thanks...

no pics, but I just used some generic clear plastic sheeting that was thinker than the original. I suspect its more for dust control, rather than sound deadening.

I belive it was intended to be a moisture barrier. The plastic had sealer along the sides and bottom.

No one has pictures of their doors without the interior door panels off?

I can make the plastic barrier, but being that I'm Mr. Anal-2-a-certain-degree, I want it as close as possible. The original plastic barrier was taken off by my friend 8 years ago........

I have no pictures but I put a piece of dynamat over the whole door and heated it to stick it down. It sounds so much better and seals out the dirt and water, been on there since 1990.

Most of these car have been pulled apart many years ago and that plastic disappeared then, including this 74 that I took apart.

They used a dum-dum stuff like electricians use to plug holes to hold it on, I think?

I did find this photo when I took my car apart, it the rear, not the door. I do have like 6 doors in storage and I'm pretty sure a couple of them still have the dum dum on them the help decide where the plastic went. I'll try to get some pictures here soon.

Strip caulk was used around the perimeter, primarily as a moisture barrier. The caulk can be had from any paint or body supply store. I think I have used 3M brand. Good stuff.

OK, the '71 Challenger doors continue...

1. Where do the two retaining clips that hold the mirror remote adjustment cable secure themselves. Looks like there's on obvious place, one of the three holes in the forward structure of the inner door.

window stop bracket with an apparent rubber or felt cushion... There's also a little clip attached to the inner door protection plate, what is that for?
