Looks like the remains of a small gasket near the starter on the back of my torque converter cover plate? Was that there to protect from dirt, water?

Just a 74 small block barracuda. There is definately something in the shape of a half moon right next to the starter that looks to be machine cut and will not come off easy, looks sort of yellow. Just curious if should have installed some double sided tape or something.

Probably someone put some double sided tape or gasket stuff in there. I have never seen a gasket located there before.

I saw a thin foam type gasket between some of them.It looks almost like the foam gasket they used on the front dust shields.Since the 60s Ive pulled quite a few and some had it some didnt.Rocky

IIRC it was on the thin piece that sat behind the starter. Its been years since Ive torn down an untouched one.I have a 68 SB motor trans combo that is sitting under the bench thats never been apart.I might just have to pull the starter.Rocky
