Check out these aluminum magnum heads I got last year...... both heads appear to have a bit of core shift on the exhaust port on the right side of the head only.... the exhaust bolt end is actually open Should I run these or send them back to edelbrock????? TBF

Look how close the port window is to the left side as opposed to the right.....even the port looks a bit deformed as the shape is not right???

I'd call them & politely explain the issue & ask if I could exch them. I'm not sure exactly how bad the problem is but I would do it for sure for peace of mind. The little bit of coin/time it would take would be nothing compared to you knowing when the eng is done that is it AS GOOD AS YOU WANTED IT TO BE.

I looked at the pics again & that looks bad & what about the core shift in areas that you cant see & I was thinking there was a recent thread about a head(s) that was suspect & the guy run it & something(I forgot what) happened right off.

Sure, crucify the guy for this single cylinder head we've seen.
So a customer is supposed to be OK getting crap like that? No way... Edelbrock is supposed to have a quality control department that would never let something out the door like that, no excuses. How could the person/people assembling the head have missed that?
No way that should ever be "OK".

I don't think a customer should have to be O.K. w/ this, but Edelbrock does have a good customer service record. I bet they'd take it back w/out any issues so long as they were never installed
I think Edelbrock would make it right, and there is no need to get ugly with them right from the jump.

I didn't have any luck with customer service at Edelbrock. All I wanted to now or to tell them was what I had found in my heads. The answer was that "they are race parts and that you are expected to rebuild them before running them, so what did I expect". I bought a set of S/B closed chambers and had to to a complete valve job because the valves were out as much as .008 in some seats. then setting up the rocker geometry is another story.( you can't run any factory rockers correctly) For a bolt on head, it certainly is not. A pair of heads at $1600.00 ended up costing $3000.00 in the end to get them installed and running, and I did the assembly work. Custom shaved lash caps, aluminum rockers, smith bros push rods,TTI headers, (69 340 manifolds don't fit.) I just wanted a new set of heads for my 360,it's not all the goodies I had to install to get them to work it was that they are advertised as a stock bolt on. I would not just bolt them on with out doing a thorough check. I don't claim to know a lot but that's what I do know.

Ouch! That definitely doesn't sound good. Especially when they advertise them as bolt-on out of the box!
