When I removed the hood/deck-lid/qtr ext stainless moulding/trim, I found these very thin foam washers located on the studs of the clips (or stuck to the deck-lid/hood/qtr ext). I suppose their purpose is either for anti-rattle, or to protect the paint, or both. Can anyone confirm? Does anyone know where I can get these? I have already searched the internet with no luck, but I don't know what they are called, so my search keyword(s) could be the problem of unsuccessful search results. Thanks.

These are from an NOS deck lid molding and NOS 1/4 molding I have for my 71 Challenger.
The deck lid molding uses these clips on the two end holes only. The 1/4 moldings use (3) clips.
Try Jim at http://www.detroitmuscletechnologies.com/ - he made me some of the black foam washers/seals.

Thanks. I've bought some of Jim's (DMT) stuff very recently. I'll contact him and see if there's anything he can do. Thanks for the NOS photos also.

I have the tools for both these now (thanks). The whitish material - a guy sent me the washers on the studs of 70-71 Duster taillight bezels. Same material. This whitish, rubbery material is also used on the cuda fender gill studs. I found a GOOD functional equivalent material for this stuff; gum rubber sheets.

On that stud above with the whiteish seal, can you tell me how thick that is? Gum rubber comes in 1/16 and 1/8 but I can get 3/32" made.

The white ones Joe needs are easy. How many? Where are they used? ID? OD? Thickness (1/16", 3/32", 1/8"?)

Hi Jim
I'll measure the whitish washer/seal tonight when I get home.
I should be able to get an approximate ID, OD and thickness.

Regarding dimensions for the deck lid molding clip white seal/washer ...
I brought home a pair of calipers from work.
The threaded stud on the clip is 0.185" (basically 3/16").
Seal/washer ID = ~0.160"
Seal/washer OD = ~0.460"
Seal/washer Thickness = 0.105-0.110"

So thickness is closer to .093" than .125". I'll order a chunk of that material.

Thanks!

Glad to know I'll be able to get these from you Jim.

I would have taken caliper measurements of the ones that came off my car, but they are so far from being close to what would have been their original shape. I did not find the thicker black foam washers/seals when I removed the 1/4 trim pieces. I'll definitely need both. The hood trim uses (8) clips; the deck-lid trim uses (2) clips; and the two 1/4 trim pieces use a total of (6) clips. So, I'll need at least (10) thin white foam washers/seals, and at least (6) thicker black foam washers/seals. Thanks to all for the help.

I'll put that together as a set and probably add it to my Challenger gasket set.

I'll get you a set for compiling the info.

What is the OD/ID again of the thin white ones? I'm gonna assume like .187" or .250" thick. Like you said probably more of an anti rattle then a seal.
