1997 Ram 2500 Brake lights don't work. The 3rd brake light on the cab does work.

Turnsignals and taillights work.
All fuses and bulbs are good.

Any suggestions?
Is the 3rd brakelight on the same circuit as the regular brake lights? thanks

On the older stuff if the TS lights work but the brakes lights do not then from the connector behind the drivers kick panel rearward from there you are OK & the problem is upstream from there (from that connector back to the TS harness under the colume and the TS switch assy itself & the white wire from the brake light switch. Not sure how much of this applies to your app. Does www.mymopar.com have wiring diagrams for that new of stuff?

The third brake light is not on the same circuit as the brake lights. Double check the fuses.

I just looked in my manual. With the third brake light working the fuse is good and the brake switch is working. If you have power at the white with a tan tracer feeding the multifunction switch than the problem is in the turn signal switch. Do the 4 way emergency flashers work? If not make sure that switch is off. Sometimes they can cause odd operation.

simplest thing to do is trace the circuit with a digital volt meter. Could be as simple as a bad ground

Ground is not the cause. He has rear turn signal so the circuit is complete. He just has to verify the 4 way flasher and power on the white with tan tracer.

This is my son's truck and he is distracted at the moment with his wife having a baby. He did tell me that four way flashers have always been goofy and thinks that possibly the switch could be on.....
I will let you guys know...thanks
