Just curious to hear some of the low budget motor builds that some of you guys are running, and what they run. Now I know this probably isn't the first thread on this, but I figured a new one cant hurt. I don't care if its a big block, small block or anything else.

1977 440 stock bore deglaze hone. Forged pistons hand polished cast crank. stock rods with arp bolts. balanced lower assembly.Deep pan enlarged oil passage. Dc 284-484 hyd cam. Stock rebuild 452 heads. Holley Street Dominator intake 750 vac holley. Adjustable pushrods. After tuning it ran in the 11.80-11.90 at 115 mph range with 3.91 gears and 28 inch slicks in a 71 Challenger. Wish I still had that car. Only draw back was a little piston knock when cold. Ran pump gas to.

I had built a turbo motor for under $1k. I took an old 383 short block that had been lying around and reringed and new bearings installed, .040 felpro head gaskets, old iron open chamber heads with large valves, bartered tm6 intake, unwanted holley 600dp, pair of cxracing t3t4 turbos, blow off valves, wastegates, ebay blowthrough hat, boost reference a holley mechanical pump, stock replacement hydraulic cam.

Went 7.30 @ 94mph in my full interior 1970 Cutlass S with stock 2.56 gear (lazy 2.0 60ft and ran out of fuel from pump around the 1/8 coasted to 13.54et)

What's your definition of budget?

I know that there are some relatively basic engine combinations that I've run in the past that I could probably duplicate for less $$$ today, or get better results today from the same budget as a result of improved selection of parts.

The engine I have in my Rampage is a budget engine..
all the parts I had in the shop except the pistons..
I didnt have any low compression ones... is it a proper
match of parts... no way but it did make 550hp and 520tq..
its a 416, 340 block, 4" stroke, roller cam(260/270
.640/.640 105lsa, W-5 heads, M-1 large port intake,
TD rockers, Diamond pistons for 10.7:1, home made headers
with a 518 trans behind it.... I should change out my
valve springs since they are on the light side for
what I'm doing... maybe in the next year I will change
it over to a hyd roller or a FT cam... but it sure sounds
good now.... like I said.. all the parts were laying
around the shop except the pistons so I think thats
a budget build

440 with Kb pistons 0 deck height, stock recon rods, stock steel crank lightened, stock caps with girdle.Indy ez heads and solid roller are the only real ex spence . This a pump gas motor that pushes my 64 dodge to a best so far of 10.77@126mph Not to bad for a free block and $200 pistons and rods.Hell the whole car was pieced together with left over parts.
