I plan on running an external fuel pump (Walbro GSL392) and am wondering what everyone is running for a fuel line. Hard line steel? Braided stainless steel with PTFE? What tools are needed? never built a fuel line before, any tips/hints would be great.

Thanks
Ryan

3/8 steel line, a pipe cutter and an inverted flare kit is what you need. Use a couple short pieces of efi rubber hose at the pump, engine, regulator, etc. While doing those parts with braided stainless hoses with nice factory crimped ends looks nicer, it's not necessary.

I'm scratching my head wondering why FAST says you "must" use rubber line all the way ?!?!?! (for their system)

You always want to use as much hard line as possible. When you need hose, use EFI hose. It's stronger, plus it holds up with "modern" pump blended fuels like E10 and E15 if they decide to ram that down our throats. Blended fuels are murder on rubber.

If you are unsure of some product's recommendations, give them a call.

Some efi retrofit setups call for all rubber to absorb the pulsing of the fuel pump and even out the pressure. I had aluminum lines on my electric pump/carb setup, then stainless braided rubber, now stainless 3/8" tube. The aluminum was getting eaten up by the gasohol and having a full run of soft line didn't make my PA street car inspection guy real happy.

some of the 4.7 V8s were E85 rated, as were some 3.3 V6s, i wonder what was used for those fuel lines

i have wondered if an
E85 rated fuel line from a 2001 4.7 Ram
would fit in place of the original fuel line of a
1995 Ram 360 V8.
It would be nice if the fitting on both ends had remained the same.

EFI hose has a viton-type inner liner, which is totally rated for that
