I found a place to do the head as I spent 6 hours replacing eh wheel bearing in my truck. Maybe once I put some miles on it I won't be so annoyed. You might be right. Well, if you have a set of ported 906/452's, that would help!

That's my plan. The swap meet in Dalton in two weeks, the Jeff Johnson show in May, Carlisle in July and the Nats and Woodward in August. Maybe Norwalk in September if I have any vacation left by then.

You should recognize the car! Mini update. I tried every pry bar and screwdriver I own, and there was no way to get to the leaking plug. Despite what all the people told me about how I could just pop it out with a screw driver! (Noone who had done it before mentioned screwdrivers or pry bars, but wood working clamps and homemade tools) My guess is this is not a fairly common issue, and you really have no room to work unless you take the hood off... So I built myself a tool out of a coupler nut, a piece of steel with holes drilled in it, an assortment of 5/16 bolts, and a nut. I was able to poke another hole in the plug. In the end, it is no longer leaking. Thanks Feets and JB Weld. I'll do a more permanent fix when I can take the heads off, but that ain't in the plans right now. It doesn't leak, doesn't move, so I'll run it until it strands me. So next up is getting the distributor set up and coming up with an exhaust system. I found my floating taking issue, the plate the pickup coil is attached to had a lot of play in it. I replaced the "tripod" spring out of a distributor that was under 30 years old and everything is relatively peachy.

More progress. I picked up a Jegs X-pipe, a pair of Pypes Violator mufflers, and after a trip to Jegs, then a trip to Summit, a set of collector extensions with an s-bend in them. It took me most of the day, but the car now has exhaust on it. I had to run out to use a chop saw to shorten one of the collector extensions, and had to get some reducers because as has been my experience with Jegs "univsrsal" kits, they just weren't quite right. There is no flared end on any of the pipes in the kit. So I either had to butt weld them together (no welder) or use a 2.5" to 2.25" reducer. I don't think it will be a terrible bottleneck. After I had it 98% done, I found Auto Zone had 2.5" to 2.5" slip on connections (that they were out of). But I wasn't taking it back apart. I still need to bend or fab a rear hanger, and find a set of turn downs. But it sounds GREAT!!!! I love the Violator mufflers. I will most likely take it somewhere once I get a couple more things straightened out and have it all taken apart, squared up, and welded. It isn't the prettiest, it's not even or square, and I can't tell if the mufflers are even when I'm laying on my back under it. But it'll do until I get the new engine built, the engine bay repainted, and the tti system ordered!
