I'm in the middle of installing an aftermarket damper on my 318 stroker, and I've never installed one on smallblocks before. Is there a precise stop on the crank snout, or do I have to check pulley alignment as I go?

it will stop against the crank gear. u might hone the damper a little. some have too much interference fit. may gauld on the crank snout. use some antiseize on the snout.

Damper fit should be checked while degreeing the cam.. just to check accuracy of timing marks on true TDC. Makes it a lil easier.
