I haven't seen anything but the 8519PT gasket in any big block felpro kit I have bought in the last 2 decades.

RR you need to get a measurement of it crushed (installed) ...

For any "performance" application, the BB wants/prefers the 1009 o-ringed gaskets which also has the SS armor wrapped around the internal o-ring. The 8519 is simply a RV/truck gasket with the additional 2-cooling hooles per spark plug area... and those only work IF the heads and block have thos holes cast into them. The set ou showed in your photo is the Federal-Mogul "SEALED POWER" KS set... it does not have the performance gaskets included.

on an 8553PT I got .058" new and .053" compressed (used). On an 8519PT1 I got .049 new

Guys, let's step back a minute and ask "why?".
Why bother with all sorts of guesses and ideas when the OP can very easily CALL MANCINI and get the answer. No guessing involved!

Also, for 90% of all the bigblocks built, the 8519PT is sufficient gasket. Now if it hangs over the chamfer or otherwise into the bore, it won't work. But saying it isn't acceptable unless it has "armor" over the crush ring is just malarkey.
People on this board have run those supposedly inferior gaskets up to 11.5:1 compression without trouble.

Shoot, if you want to spend money on a gasket, get Cometics. At least they are reusable!

I'm doing a BB build for a guy (1st one in decades) & cant believe how restricted the coolling holes are on the 8519PT, the 3 slots at the top ain't going to cut it & very little openings on the outer edge. Cant drill em, I tried on the center piece that overhands into the valley just to see. The HF hole punches wont go thru the metal core. I'm going to a machine shop tomorrow & see what they have for a punch. Dog you got any info/tips/suggestions for me

The intent of those slots is not coolant flow, it prevents air pockets getting trapped.... The intended coolant flow path is front to back around the heads the down around the rear cylinder & toward the front.... By opening the coolant passages mid way you allow the coolant to bypass the rear cylinders...

For over 20 years if you called Mancini and if they didn't know they would call the actual manufacturer; Fel Pro. Makes sense, they made the gaskets.

And for over 20 years that would mean Mancini would be talking to Mopar Mitch at Fel Pro.

I'm not guessing , every Felpro gasket kit I have purchased in over a decade , including 2 this year , has had the 8519pt head gasket .

RR I have never had an issue with those cooling slots, the prior MP steel shim head gasket has the same size slots. I don't know what the current look like ?

People have talked about this as an issue but I don't know of anyone actually having an issue, except maybe on a RACE application. Not until about 72-73 did Chrysler change the hole in the block to a figure 8 pattern, before that the hole in the head and the hole in the block didn't line up and the slot was the only way for the water to circulate there. If you change or add holes you are going to change the way water flows in the block/head, not sure if that is a good thing ?

When I read issues of gasketing, I take special interest because I had worked for a major gasket company and I know how gaskets are designed, as well as per applications, typical cataloging and marketing.

Head gaskets are designed, with respect of coolnat flow and control, to be restrictors and directors of the coolant flow pattern and volume. IF you choose to alter them away from your cataloged aplication, you run the risk of trouble with coolant control -- for any head gasket application of any make/manufacturer, etc.

The additional coolant holes on the 8519 BB head gskt are for spark plug area coolant purposes so to help prevent hot-spots causing detonation under such service loads of operation (truck/RV). The cooling holes match the OE-determined design which also matches those specific castings (head and block having those extra cooling passages).

If in doubt, call the MANUFACTURER'S Tech Line yourself for the best direct answer.
