When I bought it I was told they had paid to have a 99 2.0L DOHC swapped in it place with 45,000 less miles on it. DaytonaTurbo Too Many Posts Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 21,318 Manitoba, Canada	Not sure on the cars, but I know for 1997 on the trucks and jeeps ALL the sensor connectors changed. So you at a minimum would need to retain those from your old engine.

rallye73 mopar Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 450 owensboro, ky	Sorry, they will not enterchange. The 2004 is a NGC motor. They use different electronics and will not swap with earlier cars. You will need to look for a motor that is atleast 2001 or older. First gens are getting scarce since the circle track guys have been snapping them up and killing them.
