Put it in the freezer and see if that helps?

I would say your pressure check valve in the oil pump stuck. take it out and clean it.

Do it now before running the motor again They are real easy to remove, if it won't slide out easily it is probally galled up or it has a very small piece of trash(silicone, gasket material, metal debris or?) in it holding the valve stuck in the pump top and not letting it bypass I'm asuming this a BB Roadrunner and not a later SB one Either way it needs checking

Same thing happened to my wix filter. I put a used pump on mine started it and pressure was 125 at idle and then it spit out the oring. Also broke the gauge it stuck the needle straight down.

My car has had problems pushing oil past the o-ring on WIX 51085 (NAPA Gold 1085) oil filters (small block A-body). I just switched to the K&N HP-2004 (it has a nut attached to the "bottom" of the filter body, this is pretty awesome because I know I got the filter tight putting it on and I know I will be able to remove it no problem). The K&N has a much better method for securing the o-ring and the case is .021" thick compared to the WIX which is .017" thick. I think it is time you switch brand of filter. I am hoping this K&N will satisfy my needs because it was expensive. Cold my car idles with 60lbs of pressure and 20lbs hot.

well i have tried the kn filter but i got case of the 51515's off the site and they get very little time between changes and never had a problem.
i have a case of the 51515r's which have a thicker case but i don't like useing them because the element is to corse. i will get to the bottom of this, it's not rocket science either the filter was thin which i doubt or i buzzed the motor before the oil was up to temp. or the it's valve like everybody seem to think

Cialis pill falls into oil thus you have a filter swollen for more than 4 hours.Seek immediate medical treatment.

Uhhh, you're not allowed to mention filter problems here unless it's a Fram.

Mine is old. It hasn't been swollen or stuck staight out for awhile. I'm thinking it might be broken.

Its not a filter problem John... its a stuck by pass
problem.... any filter will blow given enough pressure

Would that require medical or mechanical treatment

I would think he had pressures in the range of 110-115
at high RPM
