ok i got a suntach and a msd tach adapter. can someone tell me how to hook up the wires on the adapter? the adapter has a violet, red, white, black.

the tach has green which is the signal wire according to the instructions, black which is ground, red is hot and white is lamp.

i got all new harnesses and i have yet to cut into them and would love to avoid this or use as few splices as possible. thanks

MSD 8920?

I ran the red to an ignition hot terminal on a Painless Wiring fuseblock, black to ground, white to MSD tach output, violet to a terminal strip so I could hook everything needing an RPM signal to that.

i got it all setup only thing i noticed was it really dosent register at idle. maybe cuse its a sun tach? i think it was like 3 bucks. its the 3 3/8 super tach 2. i put in a 3k chip and it was cutting out around 2800. so i assume the tach is a bit off and not the msd.

I would think both are off... those chips arent all
that accurate ... dont know why it isnt seeing idle RPM...
do you have the booster on it (I think thats what
they use to use with the Sun tach and MSD.....

I want to find a 3" to 3.5" tach for my Rampage...
I've got the 5" tach but thats too big

Back in the stone age ( early 80's ) I had a Sun tach read at approximately 1/2 actual engine speed with an MSD.
They sold a tach adapter that put it right , but I can't remember what the P/N was.
