Don't you hate it when something like this happens?

I pulled the turn signal arm out of the steering column of my 1970 Satellite to replace the turn signal switch assembly. With help from forum members, I have replaced the assembly. I'm all happy about that, but have hit ANOTHER roadblock.

Now, I am trying to remember HOW the turn signal arm re-attaches, because the bolt that holds it in is getting in the way of everything. I see how the wedge on the arm fits into the detente in the switch, but for the life of me, cannot figure out how to bolt the arm in without the bolt-head making it impossible.

I cannot believe that I didn't take a picture first, but it never crossed my mind that I wouldn't be able to get it back in.

Can someone help me out here? Has anyone done this recently, and remembers how it goes back together?

Thanks!

Can you drop the bolt in place so it is seated and hold the arm as you spin the bolt till the arm is seated ?

It's been a long time since I did one and sometimes I suffer from C.R.S.

That is correct. I would put a drop of lock tite on to make sure you don't have to go back in to retighten.

Just figured it out - I was trying to screw in the retaining bolt the wrong way. Now my switch assembly is in, and my Tuff wheel adapter and wheel are on too. I'm very happy.

So, the four-ways work, and my steering now cancels, but sadly, the turn signals STILL aren't working properly. Now I need to try to find the flasher unit. I can hear it under the dash somewhere, but darned if I can FIND it!

I just replaced my cancel cam and the new one was such a piece of crap that 3 of 4 corners lights (signals) didn't work. Had to pull the the cancel switch and bend up the metal wires as they would not make good contact with the contact points.

...Wow. I'll have to keep that in mind as well. I'm hoping it's the flasher, since the same problem existed with the old signal switch. Mainly, I replaced it because both canceling ears were snapped off.

Thanks!

Bolted to the side of the ashtray has been my experience..

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

I just had a similar problem with my Road runer, it was the connector from the column to main harness was not fully pushed in.

flasher is typically located on the drivers side of the ashtray with a brkt.
