Ok so now does any make a flourescent orange stripe ?I see listings for gloss /flat black , white ,red and silver but no orange.let alone flouresent orange???

You might want to give Moparts member "ChallengerGary" a try, and see if he's interested in doing a project like this...or Pheonix Graphics

Gary and I worked together on getting a challenger stripe made a few years back. I had a place mix the color for the vinyl and had it sent to Gary for cutting it. Since then I believe phoenix graphic started selling the color.

What did you use for a sample original color?

I had a stripe done in ledger green and another member supplied me with a piece of an nos sample. Place that mix vinyl/print vinyl can supply you with a fab of colors. If you want something custom, you can send them something to scan to match it.

Seen that one at Carlisle... IIRC it's a "survivor", original owner too IIRC?

Gary :Would your orange be a match with the OEM color{wouldn`t care if it were not truely flourescent } but be more durable ??

Yes, modern vinyls actually last longer than the ones from 1970. The original stripes were made using a 3M calendared vinyl. It was probably only rated for 2-3 years of outdoor use (based on non-fluorescent colors). Modern calendared vinyl is rated for 4-7 years depending on color. Today's Cast vinyls are even higher rated. Most Cast material is rated for 6-10 years.

Fluorescent colors are a different matter, however. They are not durable at all - they are generally rated for just 6 months of outdoor use. They will fade really fast regardless of brand - basically they loose their fluorescence and you will be left with a faded orange decal which will actually appear slightly darker than it originally did once it looses the fluorescence.

So, if you want an orange stripe, the best thing to do would be for me to send you the swatch book so that you can choose which shade and type of material you want.

Based on these pics - those orange stripes are no longer fluorescent so it is really hard to tell what color would provide the best match.

Avery has a color called SC9169O Pantone 021 that looks like it may be the way to go. Or you may want to consider Oracal 951-035 Pastel Orange. It has about the highest wear rating possible at 10 years.

Either route you decide go, price would be $125. That's $75 for the stripes plus $50 for special order material (based on minimum I have to buy from my supplier).

As far as I know, none of the colors of Challenger stripes were reflective.

I thought they may have been based on Plymouth stripes of the era, like 71 RR roof stripes....

I bet it would look sweet.....

I'm tired of seeing black/orange and orange/orange. I wanna see something else/orange and something else/green!
