Not a mopar, but I saw a buick rivera in hotrod or car craft doing a burn out. Said it had a 12v cummins.

There was a member who posted that he put a 4cyl cummins into his mopar wagon if memory serves. The 4 banger cummins weighs about as much as a big block, with a 5.9 cummins being near 1000lbs. The issue is getting the front end to take that size and weight combined with the expense of buying a 5.9 cummins. I bet it would be easier in a chevy size-wise with one of their v8 diesels.
Interesting. What years did they make the 4bt?

OK, So I've seen a bunch of Duramax Chevy engines in Impala's, and Chevelle's, etc. But I've yet to see any older Mopars with a diesel engine.
I have to admit, the Duramax engine is rather impressive inside the older Chevies - So I know the 5.9L 12V Cummins would also be equally, if not even MORE impressive in an older Mopar.
I've seen the older Rat Rod from the Montana 'Welder Up' show, (that has the 5.9L), and it's awesome, but it's just not a Mopar Muscle Car.
Anyone ever done this with an older Mopar??????
There was one in a Monte Carlo of all things, but unfortunately the 5.9 ISB is just a BAD idea for any car. Unlike the Duramax, the Cummins is much longer, taller and way, way heavier and there is no way you could make one handle decently and even taking the weight would require a complete redesign of the front suspension.
...then you hafta move the firewall and deal with the height. I'm a big fan of the Cummins and I currently have four Cummins powered Rams, but putting it in a car is just a poor fit. Sure it CAN be done, but it doesn't make any real sense.

On a different note, a little over a year ago I dropped a 6BT/727 in my girlfriends `89 2wd 150 Ramcharger. I used 1 ton front coils and cut 1 1/2 rounds off. It sits the right height and rides nice. 23 mpg everyday.
I am thinking about doing almost the same, 85 D100. One thing I am on the wall about, do the 1/2 ton wheel bearings hold up? And how is the front tire wear? What tires are you using? Crossmember changes needed? Not planning any heavy use, trips to the dump, maybe some light towing. A friend bought the perfect donor Saturday, 93 D250 CTD/518, very rusty. $1300, I think I can get a deal. Runs and drives. Thanks

I would use all the suspension, driveline and related components from the D250. The Cummins is over 1100 lbs fully dressed and routinely trashes front end components, ball joints, shocks and tires in my 1 ton trucks. No way I'd run a 5.9 CTD without having load range E tires, either.

Ok so how much needs to be done to one of 4BT's to make good quarter mile times? Take a look at this video of the Camaro and tell me what you think he has done to get the 7.97 1/8 mile times. 7.97 in the eighth should equate to about 12.40 in the quarter mile, correct? If he has a steep enough gearset, could the 4BT be kept mostly stock? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUiDQd2NZpU&feature=related

If you look up the HP specs on the 4bt you will see it is not a power house by any means.

Correct. But did you look at the video of the Camaro? he turned a 7.97 in the eighth. That puts him around mid 12's in the 1/4.
That engine stock wouldn't turn those times would it? Unless he's geared? And/or has other mods, maybe?

But it was not set up that way stock. Add some RPM (gov. spring kit) fuel and air it will impress you. Down side? Rough shaking at start and turn off. I have one that is factory rated at 130 HP and 400 or 440 torque. I added gov spring kit and a fuel plate.
