How much gear lube should a completely dry 8.75 rearend need to fill it to the proper level?

Ok thanks I just put 2 in and was wondering when a little should be dribbling out the filler hole...Also maybe I should add it's a spool with green bearings in a 72 Dart

don't fill it to the hole when cold Fill it so it is 1/2 to 1 inch below the hole cold Mopar drag techs. use to say to run one quart only of gear oil in a drag car, Dana 60 or 8 3/4. Thier explanation was that the rest of the lube was to quieten down the rear end gear noise in passenges cars with mufflers on

Thanks guys I have almost 2 quarts in it guess I'll stop there till warm weather and I make a few passes.

I just filled mine yesterday and with the bottle of friction modifier in it it started to run out the fill hole just before the seconed quart was all in, had about an inch and a half left in the bottle.
