5.7 cast 6.1 steel both neutral balance you can throw a 6.1 crank in a 5.7 without doing anything else, works great assuming the 5.7 is 2008 or older. I've done it several times now, works great.

Are they not balanced different for different bob weights? Do the 5.7 and 6.1 have the same bob weight?

i think the crank tone wheel has a different trigger set up.

I know the 6.4l crank tone ring is different but i thought all 5.7 and 6.1l were the same.

If it spun a bearing you need to take it apart for two reasons... first the rod is %99 chance it is toast, out of round or enlarged or both. Second is there is probably or should I say, there IS bearing material all over inside and it needs to be cleaned out.
