The gear selector cable hole is approx .180" The pin at the shift mechanism is .125" Should there be a bushing in the cable? Any pictures of the retainer or shifter?

If your cable end has a .180" hole it's a console cable or somebody has enlarged the hole; the PB cable has a .125" hole.

The console/PB cable housing ends are also different, in the pic below the PB cable is at the top.

My cable looks like the top cable except for the hole. I'll have to make a bushing.
Thanks Doug

The Imperial cables are excellent quality and work great. I moved the shifter buttons to the left of the steering wheel which required longer cables. They did send two shift cables instead of one shift and one park, but they made it good.

I moved my shifter to the right side of the column for roll bar clearance. The cables are in good shape.

Moving the shifter and modifying the drive to 1 button swap was easy. The hard part was the bezel. I agree it may be a reach. We'll see this spring.

My car is the first I've had with a PB shifter. I assume the buttons on the left is stock, but people move it to the right side. Why? It seems like it would be more natural to push with my right hand, is that why? I was just going to go with a floor shifter, but I may try this for a year or two and see how I like it.

Moved mine due to the cage bar. If the bar is in front of the dash you can't get to the buttons, if the bar goes behind the dash it's in the way of the mechanism/cables.

I loved my left side buttons on my 63 Polara. However the stock large diameter wheel can get in the way if the seat has been moved towards the center for cage clearance. I raced a friends that has the seat moved, very uncomfortable. My buttons were moved because the mechanism hit the bar inside the dash.
