Hi,
I have a 72 Road Runner that I will be putting 15 x 7 rallye wheels on. I'm looking for owners of 71s or 72s as to the maximum tire sizes they have used, tire brands and pictures would be a bonus.
What I've figured out so far is:
Front - P245-60/R15 (BFG Radial T/A) on 15 x 7 is the largest size before potential rubbing issues.
Rear - P255-60/R15 (BFG Radial T/A) on 15 x 7 is the largest size to be considered for a 7 inch wide wheel.
I have searched through past posts and I realize the rear can accomodate a larger tire but a wider rim, at least 8 inch, is part of the deal. I'm looking to stay with the 7 inch wheels though.
Also, other than BFG Radial T/As, what other brands have members used and been happy with. Cooper Cobra, Firestone Firehawk, Mastercraft Avenger, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

a 275 60 15 will work on a 7" rim,, but IMO its best on a 8" rim and fills the big wheelwell . I persomally dont care for good tires. bad results with them. Im running tres from a large NW tire chain.. Absolutely love them
I am truckless..

Thanks to everyone so far,
Tim, your yellow 71 looks great and has the stance I'm aiming for. Your rear wheels look wider than 7 inches. I'm thinking 8?
Larry, I agree on the BFGs and am looking into other brands.
Butterscotch71, what brand are your tires?
Pale_Roader, I agree P295-50R15 will fit as I've seen it as well but the wheels were always 8 or more wide.
Bob, your car looks good! Did you put that piece of molding on yet?
Thanks again,
Mike.

The "stock" looking RR has 8 inch in the rear, 275 60 15. I also had the springs recurved with a +1". I have caltrak on there now and put those springs to the side.
