I run the spit mono's with Cal-Tracs, and like Dustin, I drive mine on the street regularly. If you back all preload out of the Cal-Tracs, the split mono's then actually act very nice on the street. I agree with Dustin that the aluminum bushings are probobly the biggest part of any change you feel. I noted that they also transfer much more sound into the chassis than rubber bushings do....

To the O.P.: Might as well try them with the XHD's. Calvert told me that the Split Mono's don't really pay off big until performance gets near the 10 second zone.

You really have to have their monoleafs. The Cal Trac bars do not work up to their potential with s multi leaf type spring.

Here's Caltrac monos, bars and QA-1 shocks...

Ok, I know that mono leafs are what is recommended but I am planning on running the XHD springs so does anyone have a part number or the needed lengths that I will need for a 68 b-body? Thanks Tim

If you already have the XHD's, then it makes sense to run them. If you are going to BUY springs to go with Cal-Trac's, then buying ANYTHING other than the Calvert mono spring is a BIG mistake, IMO.

When running Caltracs the split mono's are recommended. Seems like more people have better results & consistancy with running the mono's. I have the Caltracs/ -1" split monos' & the caltrac shocks on my Challenger. I haven't tested it yet. Still in the building process. The trick is running a very loose front end for transfer.

Even with the -1 springs & the 315's on I still will probably make it sit a little lower. Won't know until I get the driver train & eveything else installed to get the correct ride height.

I would certainly try the caltracs with the xhd springs. I run stock springs and a pinion snubber with some clamps on the front of one segment and some on the back of the other side segments. Mine hooks great with 275-60 mt e.t. street radials. 1.49 60' dead hook off the foot brake with a 5000 8" converter. Long front shocks made mine hook awsome!

Wow! This has been a good topic afterall! I didn't think there would be all of these responses from my original post. Well, a good update here... the caltracs are now on my car, as well as some other goodies... I was able to take out my car for a little spin around the block to see if I could feel any noticable difference and quite honestly, I didn't. Mind you, they were not loaded, nor did I take it for a hard launch.... just drove it for about 5 minutes. I'm getting anxious for warm weather and a trip to the track to get these dialed in.

For those who are wondering how hard it was installing them, it is VERY easy to do!!!! Took me about 5-6 hours and had a fun time doing so. Soooo here's some pics of whats been done... enjoy!

Nice
I've just bought a 67 R/T, just waiting for it to be shipped.
I just run SS springs and 9way ranchos on my Dart.

Very cool. As you might have guessed, I have the same size tires as well, on 15x10 prostars. Have tons of room up in there after doing the mini tubs a couple years back. Looking forward to seeing your pics!

Not necessarily. I found out the hard way that too loose up front can cause you major traction issues w/ Cal-Tracs on a 9 sec car. On a slower car, yes you need quick transfer. Not so much on others.
