there have been several articles in different mopar magazines over the years about the propensity of Abody cars to lock up the rear brakes----and if i remember right it was the distribution block problem---bob

Had to do with the rear wheel cylinders being too big , I bought ase set of the smaller ones from Ebooger and installed them in a 67 barracuda convert for a friend , he swapped over to discs and it has an NOS manual disc brake master I got from Bill Rolik , should have bought 2. I put an adjustable wilwood valve in the rear line and no lock up on the rears .

The rebuilt $20 Advance master cyl fixed it for the most part. The car will now lock up the front brakes in gravel where it would not before. Autozone had none of the $14.97 MC....

Weird problem never seen a master act like this in 35 years of fixin cars.

Take care,
Rick

It is hard to comprehend what went wrong with the master. If the primary piston had somehow stuck / frozen totally, there would be NO brakes (front or rear) but still a firm pedal. The rear line pressure is derived from the primary piston (toward rear of car) pressing on the "floating" secondary (for rear brakes, front outlet) piston. So if the rears were working, the primary piston HAD to be operating OK. Bizarre. I'd love to dissect that master.

Before...I was thinking stuck w/cyl pistons...

Bet it was full of rust. The rears activate first and if the front brake side had a clogged hole or something, it'd have pressure on the pedal cause the fluid cant move, but will not work the front brakes. Seen it a few times.

The fluid in it was full of rust. I've flushed the system as well.

Actually, the primary piston moves first, activating the front brakes and (hydraulically) moving the secondary piston, which, in turn, pressurizes the rear brakes.

Hard to imagine 1000 PSI not pushing past any hose defect.
