I did not know you could set a record in NSS racing ? I have raced with a few and I ran in an 11.50 index class (had to dail every 1/2 second) and another that you have to dail on a 0 you know like 10.80 or 10.90 so I just did not know the system even has a way to set records ? I assume the Ford is just the fastest car running the class as I would think its the blue Falcon running with the 422 club ? Ron

Not really up on the rules, but I'm under the impression that different NSS groups have different rules...So I guess you have to say who has the fastest NSS car.

Mr. Yuck I guess your right about that it should be who has the fastest NSS car then...? But there are a few NSS clubs who do we go by?

Yes it was started by a few Ford guys who are serious racers. Also a few very nasty Pontiacs and a 63 Chevy. All nice cars and people. The only thing to me that throws the ball off a little to people watching the NSS cars from the 422 club like these real fast ones are that they are so much faster then the cars of the era they represent. I mean dont get me wrong if they have the cash and know how to build them that fast its great of course but its throws the perspective off some. When you think of a 63 Galaxy that ran 12's back in the day running 9's or 8's I just think the spectator might think they were that fast in the mid 60's. And of course the 422 cars are not the only ones going way fast it just that I get to see them them alot since my brother races with them and he loves it as they are all very nice people and also treat me great when I go to some of the races they are at. And I dont know if you could even put a limit on how fast they are now but it just seems that these cars were 11 and 12 second cars in the day and I even see some in the 8's today. Just makes me wonder if the spectators think they were that fast back in the day ? Ron

My buddy Harry Schillings out of Canada is the fastest NSS guy I know personally, and he is going low 8's in his '70 Hemi Cuda...formaerly an originally AAR Cuda. He had a bout with Cancer this year, but he kicked it and will be back out this year, and we will be seeing more of his big Hemi Cuda...

is a 70 Cuda even NSS??? I only ask because I thought it was restricted to early years. I asked once about making my 70 and NSS car and was told it's too new... Aren't most mid-60's vintage?

You might be right, but I have seen it raced in NSS, but its usually SS, so I bet it depends on the specific rules. These days, I think tracks are trying to get car counts up, so maybe they let him in dunno, I would have to call him.

Sanders has been 8.48 to my knowledge. That was with the wedge
Paul (keepin the faith) has been at least 8.52, he may be faster but last i heard that was the fast pass.

Stelzer and white is around 8.80
McKenzie is like 8.70
Rossiter has been in the 80's

I have a feeling Sanders may be a little faster next year tho

Casey

ALL these cars my son listed are NMCA Legal cars in the NSS/FX classes. FX are the classes from 8.75-9.75 divided by .25 increments. Also in the NMCA you can run a hemi or a wedge from 64'-67' B-body cars. A wedge or hemi in 68' darts or cudas.
59'-63' B-bodies are wedge only entries. Also chevies, fords, pontiacs and buick/olds are welcome to run. See the NMCA website or the Dave Duell Classic web site for the NSS rules.
All of us that run this series would welcome any racer that would like to run NSS. There are many new cars showing up and many being built to run these races. Poppaj

Casey we need to see your beast in the mid 8's soon... We need your name on that top 10... But all BS aside 8.29 is flying for a car of that size and weight.... This is why I really respect the SS/AH cars 426hemi stock stroke iron heads and going 8.20's at 3200lbs...

They're only a hand full that run quicker than 9.0. The rules keep getting more liberal. I for one am building a faster car than my old one. Using the original rules, no 4 link, sheet metal intake or 14.5 tires. All of these stated cars are fast. But to put it in perspective a 600 cu 2500 lb AH car would be legal. I do like the competition and no electronics. Never met a racer I didn't like in N/SS either.

Probably Frank's car followed by one of Pickett's cars. I think the wagon is the faster of the two Pontiacs right now. Jim Pickett told me Mopar racers have no excuse because the best heads you can get for a Pontiac will flow no better than a 440-1. The best FE stuff isn't any better.
Me, i'll just stick with my 10.0 car for the foreseeable future. I'm too good at breaking stuff as it is.
