Is this from one of our members? Trans explosion - I read the driver is ok, with a sore foot. Pic was taken Saturday at Milans No ET Nats.

Pic is from Mike Grasso - Outlaw Photo

I was sent the pic on my Facebook - I went to Grasso's photo section and read that the trans had exploded and parts came through the floor. Driver walked away, but I READ that he had been hit in the foot. I posted to get some info.

And expensive. A billet drum is a lot cheaper than what that will cost.

So..is the consensus the trans was a 727? How much do BILLET drums go for? Might be something for me to look into....especially since we pulled my engine and trans out of the GTX on Saturday!

OUCH!!! now that's going to hurt, and I am not trying to be funny here, glad the driver didn't suffer anything major,, if in fact it was a 727 then a billet drum should of been used right along with a good aftermarket sprag not just a replacement factory bolt in one, i do feel they are stronger than the standard bolt-in's,,also powerslides do bust too,,seen a lot of factory cases break in two.

Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

I hate to see that.
I wonder if the car had a driveline failure recently? (u-joint, drive shaft, rear end)

Maybe if we started posting some half foot pics, people might be a bit more pro active on making there 727 as safe as possible.

Glad the driver wasnt hurt.

didn't Don Garlits loose part of his foot due to powerglide parts exploding in his two speed trans back in 1971 at lion Drag strip?

It just seems to me the past year or so or maybe it never stops but there has been ALOT of lucky people that still have both feet.

One thing I cant do is auto trans rebuilds, gonna try soon but my point is for along time I cringed every time I thought of what the crt pro race trans cost me, I run that with a blanket on my street car and now with the procharger/nitrous setup, its like the dana rear end...I never worry and I bought the right trans the first time and still have two feet.
