Does anyone else run BEA/PGClassic linkage rods for an A body? I bought them a while back and am getting around to putting them on the trans now. The 1/2 and 3/4 rods seem ok but swivel ends fit the shifter a little sloppy.

I'm not sure what to do with the reverse rod though, on the factory setups the swivel end goes on the trans lever with the fixed end to the shifter. The new one I have seems to be setup the opposite but the problem is the end doesn't fit the shifter. It's too big and I'll have to drill out the reverse arm for the shifter or grind the swivel down. If I turn the rod around the factory way it's too small. I could make a bushing but it would seem the bend is in the arm the wrong way to clear the crossmember then.

What did everyone else do?

Also unless I have something else wrong, I run out of threads to adjust the swivel. Here with the trans and shifter in reverse you can see the threads on the rod stop before the hole in the shifter.
I'm new to the 4 speed stuff, is there something else wrong here besides my 4x4 trans mount and bolt in shift handle crammed in a bayonet shifter?

What shifter do you have ?

The picture you link has the reverse put together backwards , the swivel goes on the trans lever I'm pretty sure, I'd have to crawl under the car to look later.

The ORIGINAL OEM mopar shifters boxes have smaller holes and no bushings, and the aftermarket bushings are too big for them, the aftermarket Hurst stuff that has bushings .

Your having problems because the rods are not made correctly. Wait til you get the trans in the car and try to fit the rods around the torsion bar crossmember. The rods should look like this:

The reverse arm on the shifter says 6353.
I know the reverse rod is backwards compared to the originals, but this one won't go that way, the bends in it are different. You can see in the pic in the first post all 3 rods have the swivels on the shifter end.

I bought most of the rest of the parts I needed for my 4 speed swap from you guys a few weeks ago. I bought the OE style clip and washer set because I didn't like the little cotter pins these came with. In fact when I first bought these rods and saw the cheesy nylon bushings on the ends I wished I'd just bought the real deals from you guys in the first place.

I get lots of calls about their linkage (clutch and shifter), not sure what they used for samples.

Do you think the 1-2 and 3-4 rods will have interference problems too? They seem similar to the original style.

Looks like reverse wants to go directly through the crossmember though.

Part of your problem is that shift box mount , the box is tipped a little too far forward , just pony up for the correct rods tightwad .

The shifter mount is brand new A body billet piece from Brewers. It might look tipped because it's in reverse in the pic. I agree I was being a tightwad on the rods...trying to save $40 is going to cost $130.

I would give them a call and see if they will take them back. I believe they have for others in the past.

I made the same mistake with my Challenger. I didn't know that Brewer's had the rods so I got the repros off of Ebay. I had to get a 70 style reverse rod to work with my TTI exhaust and the quality of the Brewer's rod is 10 times nicer. Less slop and better hardware. Dan also services what he sells and will spend the time on the phone with you when you need it. Great product and service!

When it comes to 4 speed parts, Brewer's rocks!

Now I just need to get one of those cool rt angle alignment tools shown in the pic.

It's a 1/4" diameter piece of round stock , A long dowel or drill bit works in a pinch.

I use a shortened drill bit, I just sometimes have trouble finding in my messy toolbox. That white tool would be easy to spot.

I guess you can try to buy one then , or make one , it's just a piece of plastic rod bent in a 90

the guys you should of got your rods from nailed it. Also if you can get the rods to work...They always need adjusting as they were heat treated originally and these cheap expensive repo's are not and easily bend from use....
