If you bought a used 340 R block from a well known engine builder but you didn t build the engine till 4 years later at which time you found out the block was no good would you expect that shop to make it right. Well the simple solution to my problem would be to get another block 59 degree 9.600 deck bore smaller Then 4.125. This block is good just needs new lifer bushings and 4.135 bore pistons Ryan has offer to rebush free of charge which is very good of him but does fix my total problem so if any has a block for sale please help a fellow mopar nut out

I would hope to think that he would take care of it,but you may have to jump thru a few hoops to prove your point that it was junk to start with, and only expect a replacement block as a fair deal cause lot's of shops won't do a cash back deal,,especially after this many years,,,,,good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you.

What do you mean, block is no good? 4 years is stretching it working or not. I will edit this and add...If it was completely blown up and scattered, when they said a good block, that would warrant a trip to the guys shop

Ordering pistons based on what you are told is a mistake.
The lifter bores maybe that is something.
You told me you had Morrel lifters. I'm not sure about your price, $750. Like I told you on the phone about the this.
The block is not junk. I think that should be cleared up.
Go ahead and spill the beans. Ryan sold you the block. I don't think Ryan would have a problem with people knowing this. After all, the only thing we are absolutely clear on is there was a discrepency in the bore of the block. You remember being told 4.125". Now you think it is actually 4.135". Before I spent $1,500 on pistons I would have been absolutely sure. But, like I told you we all screw up. If so, this was an expensive one.
I have trouble with this as some of the prices you have paid for parts seem off. But, I was not on either end of the deal.
Ryan is a pretty busy guy, but, I'm sure he will work with you on this. If the lifter bores are out of round I think he would take care of that. But, I'm not in this deal so I am purely speculating.

Maybe a trip to Larry's is in order so he can show you for yourself. Machine shops have been known to exagerate a bit about some things in order to get more work and more money. And .0015 taper on a lifter body? OMG, that thing will spew chunks everywhere.

How many of you are running Morrel lifters? Have you had trouble with your being out of round?
I have been running the same set sense 2007 when Ryan rebushed my R3 block. I have never checked the lifter bushings or the lifters to be honest. I plan to check them today sense my engine is apart. Not saying it can't happen because we all know that even the best stuff can be screwed up. All I know is my experience with turning 9K and I had no trouble with my own.
I understand the block in question came from another shop in a buyout. This guy also did lifter bushings and stuff. So really don't know all the facts. I'm sure like everything out there you can buy different variations of the same brand parts. Maybe these Morrels are different than the ones most of us have came to love.
How about some pics if possible.
And I have to agree we don't know the shop who has it now. So it's just thier word as far as we know.
Course we don't know what Ryan has to say about this or what he remembers as far as the deal. It may be bad deal on his part.
Maybe it is none of our business and should not have been put on here to start with.

I was told .0003 tapper is exceptable and I am pretty sure I measured the top of the bore before ordering the pistons. Yes I am taking a ride to the machine shop to day to see what's what and get my parts back either way because my gut is telling me something just isn t right.
