No they dont work.... you need area/volume to control the noise... if its a street type car, get the muffs as far back(to the rear of the car) so the exhaust is cooler... cooler exhaust has less voume/area and is easier to control

big deal, it'll blow out windows, but will it blow the doors off the competition, that's the real question.
do we need to donate some money so you can get some big boy pants to put on.
think i'm going to need money to pay for windows

As Mike has already said, mount the muffs as far back as you can, preferrably behind the rear end housing forget the Flow Masters, look at a Magnaflow or other straight through design, I have a set of 3.0x14 oval magnaflows on my Duster mounted between the rear sub frames and the outer 1/4 panels at the rear bumper, it is quiet at part throttle and non restrictive at WOT, not very quiet at WOT but it is not shattering windows I had a set of 3.5 Bullets on my 440 1969 Dart that dumped under the car straight out of the hooker fenderwells, I wanted to quiet it down so I added about 3 ft of 3.5 inch exhaust pipes in the shape of a V so it dumped in front of the rerar tires. That added pipe made a resonant(SP?) frequency that I was sure would break windows at part throttle bewteen 2700 and 3200 RPM Never again will I add pipes onto the muffs, mount the muffs way back as far as posiible
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I have a pair of LARGE turbo mufflers on my Jensen, then another pair of Dynomax bullets out back. It's not quiet but it sure sounds decent. My motorhome has two 3" Flowmaster 50 series. In TANDEM. It's quiet at idle, sounds like a musclecar when pounded. Not loud at all. I think mufflers in TANDEM is the way to quiet down an obnoxiously loud car....

Use a pair of Dynomax bullets as resonators...it will not change the tone at all but it will reduce the volume at idle several decibels...and at WOT they will have nearly zero effect on performance. They are like turning the amp volume on a Marshall stack from '11' down to about 7 1/2 I think If you live in a residential neighborhood you need to show some respect for your neighbors....I can't stand incessant Dog barking and kids blasting Rap at all hours, so at least to some degree I can respect someone not appreciating our 'Mechanical Music' as much as we do.

What size pipes are you using and do you run the pipes out the back of the car ? Ron
3.5 with bullets, exit in front of rear tires.
my friend told me his dad uses a cone type thing and puts them in his exhaust and said they work. but the are really pricey. i have to look and see if i can find them.
like Streetwise said, it not about me, its about the people that live around me. I try to keep the area outside my shop clean and keep the noise to a minimum if possible. its already bad enough my pitbull roams all over the place without them complaining any more
