looks like alighnment wasn't their worry. Id probably cut it off again and start from scratch. you could maybe reuse the roof skin if it isn't butchered too bad, otherwise, AMD sells skins. as always, when your redoing it, always prep the area as best as you can before you weld the skin back on.
btw, roof skins really arn't that bad. Id say a lot easier to do than a 1/4 panel.

I already figured I would be doing the roof skin and full quarters that's not realy the problem. The issue is that they cut through the roof frame. Would it be structuraly ok to butt weld the roof structure at the c piller and a pillars?
BTW it's a R/T car 440 auto pp1 red, black top interior and stripe so I feel it's worth a little effort to try and save it.

Are you saying that instead of skinning the roof they cut it all the way through the A and C pillars? Then welded it back together?

[quote Get all the rust off, deskin it, weld all the past sins up and install new skin. Boy, that was easier to type than it will be to do....
Those were my thoughts on the issue. I guess what I'm worried about is the strength of the c-pillar and a-pillar being butt welded, but hot rod guys do that all the time.... Same concept as chopping the top.

dang. if they cut all the way through the pillars and welded an entire new roof on that way...i would spit the roof panel from the frame structure, fix the frame structure by itself, adding reinforcement plates over the joints as needed and doubleing the welds, doing lots of tack welds till you have a continuous welded seam. then toss the skin back on. and add subframe connectors for insurance I'm probalby going to be pulling the skin off my Cuda soon. I'm neck deep in a quarter panel replacement right now, and I'm in the process of fixing all the soft spots under the quarter. the other day though, I needed motivation. I tossed the quarter in place, and thought it looked great. I can't wait to get it done now! I'm not after a 100 point restoration show car. I'm just killing the rust, and building a structurally sound, good looking cruiser/driver.

But those chopped top cars are on full frames , not unibodies where the roof is part of the structure.

Yes that's exactly what was done.
I've had a lot of Chargers and torsional ridgidity is not their strong suit. If it was me I'd fix it right if the car was worth it. The big problem is you need to make sure the car is true.
I would peel it back like an onion. I would remove the quarters and the old roof. Build a brace to hold the car in a true position and then rebuild the roof understructure with good pieces. Then fit new quarters and roof skin - then spot weld or plug weld them on.
This is not an amatuer job.
Good luck.

Just how well do the AMD Charger roofs and quarters fit? Also wondering about the rear deck filler panel fit.

I've seen first hand what happens when the pillars are cut through without a jig. The unibody springs out of shape and getting it back is almost impossible. Get a frame chart and put it on a jig before even starting. Jigs are available for a reasonable price....

hopefully the front and back glass openings weren't screwed up to much.
